This was from the Alentejo region of Portugal. The year was 2019 and the grape is Castelão which is parakeet in Portugese. It is mostly planted in the southern parts of Portugal.
Deep color with harsh tannins in the first day yet it subsided pretty quickly overnight. But even by the fourth day after it was opened it was still tannin heavy.
Juicy wine, not at all dry, and taste was a combination of sour cherry with notes peppercorn and bell pepper. Its tone was musty.
