This was a Brazilian wine and the variety was Tannat which, according to wikipedia..

Tannat is a red winegrape, historically grown in South West France in the Madiran AOC, and is now one of the most prominent grapes in Uruguay, where it is considered the “national grape”

This was a harder wine to pin down, very short finish but what did exist was fruity. Yet not much fruit to the wine. I picked up more earthy notes, including licorice and cardamom.
